"Calcutta Girls' High School" is established under the patronage of Lord Canning. It is greatly supported by the various evangelical denominations of the city .
1877

The administration of the school is handed over to Bishop James M . Thoburn.


1878

Miss M.E. Layton is sent out by the Women's Foreign Missionary Society of Methodist Episcopal Church. She greatly improves the academic standards and discipline of the school .

The Kindergarten department Vocal and instrumental music was introduced

Drill Classes were Strated by the Principal Miss Widdifield also Calcutta Girls' School earned the reputation of being the only school to send girl to High School,girls who passed in 1st Div
1985

Mount Hermon School was founded by Emma L. Knowles of the British Methodist Episcopal Church, who became its first Principal. The School was first known as Arcadia and later as Queen’s Hill School. The school came to be named Mount Hermon during a prayer meeting around Ms. Knowles’s fireplace, and it has retained the name ever since.

Calcutta Girls High School branched out in Asansol under the vision and guidance of Bishop Dr. Phillip S. Masih and Principal, Mrs. Basanti Biswas.
